I WOULD LIKE YOU TO MEET
YESEWLKE
Two years ago, she unexpectedly became a widow
when her husband died in a tragic accident.
Yesewlke’s family suffers from extreme poverty as she and her 5 children ages 15, 11, 10, 8 and 3 sleep on the dirt floor of a sparse, dilapidated Korah hut. Daily she goes into Addis begging and makes about 3 – 5 etb (17 – 28 cents). Yesewlke saves this money for the $12 monthly rent which is needed to keep the tiny, one room hovel that she lives in. This leaves no money for the feeding of her children, let alone herself. She is a skinny lady, with no shoes and dressed in rags. Yesewlke scrounges and begs for their daily bread. This mother and these children desperately need a sponsor. If you think you might like to bring HOPE to this family, please read below for more information. You can change their lives!
I WOULD LIKE YOU TO MEET
MAHARI,
a single father
who is raising three beautiful daughters on his own.
His family is in dire need of a sponsor! This gentleman has suffered great loss, not only is he a widower, but he can no longer work. Both of his hands & feet have been severely disfigured and disabled by leprosy. When meeting him, I could not help but wonder in all of this, what has happened to his heart? He has had leprosy for over 38 years! Daily he begs for his family’s survival, making 6 – 7 etb (33-38 cents) per day. His oldest daughter is only 17 and she is a courageous girl as she juggles her schooling while caring for her father, her sisters (ages 14 & 6), making food when available, laundry and up keeping the home. When asked what her interests were, she likes cultural dancing, but other than that she was not sure as she spends most of her time at home carrying the weight of this responsibility. You could offer this family a HOPE and a FUTURE – You could make a difference! For more information, please see below.
THE HFK FAMILY SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
This program
takes action towards breaking the cycle of extreme poverty for families living
in Korah. It provides an opportunity for
families to move out of this critical state through better living conditions,
food, healthcare, education and relationship. The goal is for families to
become involved with income generation and community development projects which
promote self-empowerment, giving back to their community and leading to
healthy, stable and self-sustainable families.
“KEEPING FAMILIES HEALTHY AND KEEPING FAMILIES TOGETHER.”
We also desire to give families in
North America the opportunity to understand the needs of families in a third
world country and the privilege of “Working Together for Hope” by building a
relationship through meaningful family sponsorship; providing sponsors with
unique opportunities to walk alongside and connect with their sponsored family.
If you are interested in learning
more about the HFK Family Sponsorship Program or would be interested in
sponsoring one of the above families, please email Eve Pohl at eve@hopeforkorah.com
