A Few of the Ways We Are "Working Together for Hope"

We invite you to join us,
STAND WITH KORAH
Together, we can make a difference...

November is Hope for Korah's fundraising month and we are asking you to join us as we care for the destitute - the elderly lepers, widows, children and families of Korah. In preparing for the upcoming year, our goal is $75,000.  Any gift great or small will help loosen the yoke of poverty in Korah.  Please read our recent post and click on STAND WITH KORAH.

Here are just a few of the ways we are
"Working Together for Hope"

Family Sponsorship
Keeping families healthy and
keeping families together!

Together, through monthly sponsorship we are able to take action towards breaking the cycle of extreme poverty for families living in Korah. Sponsorship provides an opportunity for families to move out of this critical state through better living conditions, food, healthcare, education, community meetings, bible study and relationship. The goal is for families to become involved with income generation & community development projects which promote self-empowerment, giving back to their community and leading to healthy, stable and self-sustainable families. Giving Hope & a Future - Jeremiah 29:11

Berta Breakfast

“Crisis Intervention” Program

The first of its kind in Korah, this ‘Crisis Intervention’ Program serves a specialized breakfast cereal called Berta which is designed specifically for malnourished children. For many it is their largest meal of the day. Most families in Korah only eat 1-2 times per day and the quality of food is extremely poor, often scavenged from the city garbage dump. As a result, the boys and girls living in Korah are underweight and their families malnourished.  It is common for these children to have poor participation (some actually fainting) in school because they have not eaten.  Providing Berta, provides hope and a future; one cannot concentrate in school on an empty stomach.

The Elders' Home for Lepers
Loving the Least of These

Great Hope Charities has been serving the elderly lepers of Korah for numbers of years.  At their request, in April 2012 we opened the ‘Elders’ Home’ providing a safe, loving home for those who have been forgotten & rejected because of their disease.

Brother Sister Friend Program

Globally connecting hundreds of boys & girls of all ages to a friend their own age, learning to understand their needs and developing a relationship through letters, cards and photos.  “I AM NOT FORGOTTEN! Someone knows my name!”

Income Generation

In October 2012 we leased this beautiful compound to house our ‘Income Generation Project’ which will provide families an opportunity to learn and upgrade weaving, jewellery making, basketry and sewing skills. Products will be available for purchase in 2013.
